Decisions
In life we have the opportunity, the responsibility, the obligation, the pressure and a variety of other factors of making decisions on a daily basis. Different people make decisions in different ways. Some make decisions quickly and some not so quickly, some need all the facts while others use information that is currently available and move on. The question here is, How do you make decisions? If you had to think about it you probably are a slower decision maker.
It is proven that people that make quicker decisions typically change their mind less often. They are usually people more in a leadership role. Many people that make quick decisions are called stubborn, hard headed or even obstinate. Most people that can make decisions quickly are not influenced by outside forces like the media, friends or family. They use thier own mind and knowledge to base their decisions on and stick to them. If you allow yourself to be influenced by others you will have no desire of your own.
If you had to make a life threatening decision, how long would it take you to make it? How hard would it be to make? Lets say you only had thirty seconds to make the decision or someone else would have to make it for you … would you make the decision? Our great Leaders staked their lives on the line with the decisions they made and some paid the price. Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation, Samuel Adams and John Hancock had the faith and courage to organize the opposition against the British and ultimately creating the most important document in U.S. History, the Declaration of Independence. All 56 men that signed that document that day July 4th 1776 were signing their own death warrant.
The question is how courageous are your decisions? How quickly do you make them? Lack of or being hesitant to make a decision is a major cause of failure. Realistically in today’s world, our decisions are easy. Just get used to making your decisions quicker, it will get easier each time you make a new decision. You will make mistakes, but as Bill Gates has said many times, the reason I have made more money than most is simply because i have made more decisions. Which is ironic because he also stated that he has been wrong more than right but because he has made more decisions he has more right decisions than most! Make more decisions quicker, easier and it will empower you!
